I carted the decks and mixer along with cd's and cables to the FUBAR. It was about 9.30pm and I was due to start at 11.00. Erin was playing guiter and I dumped my stuff and just left to get some more food from the fishing ceremony evening.
I returned and set up. I was quite nervous as I had not the knowledge of the music I would have liked, I knew that to play for so long I was going to have to repeat some tracks for sure, the one thing on your side is it's roatan and the other is hopefully people are getting or are drunk.
I kept a reasonable head, despite nina forcing a shot down me which was a good idea in fact. I started off with an introduction from erin and I was calling myself dj mojito. The place had quite a few people in already. I started off pretty tame, and was prepared for some heckling, here they like it hard all the time even at the expense of those not dancing. After climbing up a notch a little early for my liking it was to be that I was ever searching for music and sometimes I would get time to mix. This was due in the most part to me loosing a good few of my cd's they wouldnt play despite wiping them. There were also problems with some of illias' music.
All in all I got good encouragement and people were very complimentary. There were quite a few from san pedro sula who really like their music and I got some requests for decent tracks I was able to play. A guy wanted to play but he couldnt work the decks, it had been a while for him, but Illias helped out with giving me some time away and he showed what a real good mixer can do. Time past pretty rapidly and barry fell over right in front of only about 3 times lol. Lidia asked for boca linda which I had already played twice so no go, and other stuff which I cant recall now.
I missed the night from the perspective of being a clubber, but I enjoyed my time. On occasion I saw the crowd loving it- for that I thank illias for lending me his equipment and for the guys dave and erin at FUBAR for letting me play.
