It was the annual Dive show at the NEC and it was my first time. There were two types of stall, the resorts and dive operations (mainly abroad) and the stalls selling all things diving. There was also the PADI village and a sprinkling of those how shall we say good cause organisations, like the shark trust.
I enjoyed the show and bought only some sunglasses which I badly needed. I hagled hard to get them down from ?50.00 but couldn't. They were "dirty dog" polarised glasses and apparently I shouldnt be able to get them anywhere any cheaper because they dont allow you to mark them down, well just check out online and see. I thought perhaps it was bullshit what I was told, but at least I knew what I was getting and they were 10 pounds cheaper online, but these day s I do really believe in the bird in the hand...
I do need also to get a digital camera but held off as I need to research it more.
The Show.
I was going round all the caribbean stalls and pushing my business card and the caribbean-diving.com website. There was some interest after the initial guards came down a bit. I really loved talking to people about the business of resorts and diving though and I felt a page turn in my life somewhat. I was also excited by a challenge to design a device which can work through sonar to communicate dive problems to the surface. What was cool was meeting again andy from Utila Dive Center-Utila and Jenifer from? Anthoneys Key Resort in Roatan. I also met marlen from a long time back in Roatan.?
