never to return! never. I was offered a great postion designing
But right now my alarm was ringing and I wondered where I was, thats
right milan!!!. Travellers can relate to this feeling waking up
somewhere strange briefly not knowing a lot. But quickly my head got
business like and ready to get on with it. Still much could go wrong as
all I had was a copy of a fax booking made from the island itself since
the ticket doesnt seem possible to get booked from ital if you dont
live there. The only reason theres a direct flight from italy is
because theres a charter flight there. Its kinda like bizare the
position of having a ticket on this flight when all around you are
italian chavs. Thats not fair they were friendly although they didnt
really like to cue up for the plane. There were one of 2 attempts to
feign ignorance and join the que somewhere in the middle as the end had
snaked off and got messey towards the back of the check in.Some were
promptly told by others that it wasnt the end of the line and others
made it(much like lifes little inequalities i smiled). The bus trip to
malpensa airport by the way was great, cheap and comfortable and they
leave every 20 mins...how many times do we have to take the shit public
transport in the u.k. like it is. I guess it will never change
especially since we never complain anymore. So im at malpensa and
relieved to have gotten my ticket no drama, the attractive girl behind
the counter quized me a bit on what I was doing, more out of her
personal interest of so I prefer to think. I really need to go drink
some more and save this so i dont loose my text...ok im back, and it
has been a week im getting behind. The flight was long 12 hrs? approx
but I was seated next to a guy who was travelling to cancun with his
young family. The plane was to drop us off in roatan then move on to
cancun. It was a real strange time warp feeling flying over cuba as I
had years before on the way to the rock as its called. Landing I had
forgotten or had chosen to as its not for the feint of heart! its a
short runway so you have to skim the sea and touch down at the very end
of the runway to get the most breaking speed. But the worst is the
tight turn in the windy conditions to help keep the plane stable , a
real gut wrencher. But we arrived and I had touched down. Steve and
Dean were supposed to be waiting and we had made up any delay in our
departure.
Then there was this situation of having two desks for a few hundred
italians on check in. More queue dodging ensued I ducked in behind two
young girls who had it down to a fine art, they paved the way and
before I knew it I was at the 1st quarter of people going through. I
got my 90 days stamped in the old visa and collected my tired backpack.
I've had her since i was 21 now im 33. I thought the other day how I
think it will last a lifetime. I met up with steve and dean, I
imediately recognised dean and steve's face was familiar however I had
confused it with someone elses! Anyhow I had landed and food and beer
lay ahead for the first night.
